The Judgment of Solomon

In Milan, the Galleria is the center of Bet Shlomo or Solomon's House, run by Rabbi Samuel. Of Solomon we know from the Bible who lived in the tenth century BC, reigned 40 years, he received from God the gift of the greatest wisdom, was the head of a kingdom extended from the Nile to 'Euphrates, had hundreds of wives and concubines, had visited the beautiful Queen of Sheba-Sheba, who made a trip to see unprecedented; built the temple in Jerusalem destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar in 887 BC. We know from Josephus, belonging to one of the priestly families who alternated in the care of the temple (rebuilt in the Middle Persian), a highly educated person, and then tied to Vespasian and Titus, who gave him the gift of the library of the temple before it was destroyed again , that Solomon came to power at age 14 and reigned for 80, having asked for the gift of wisdom God gave him and also that the glory of science.

Today many scholars, including Rabbi De Benedetti, who teaches at the Theological Seminary of Milan, said that Solomon never existed, and like him, David and Moses! Although not explicit as De Benedetti, on his line are many biblical scholars Italians, and then the priests leave the seminars with the 'idea that the Bible is a collection of fables of the sixth century BC useful only to suggest personal theological and moral reflections.
